According to section 57 (1) of Firearms Act 1968, a firearm is defined as a lethal barreled weapon. Such a weapon may be of any description, which is capable of discharging any bullet shot or missile. This includes any type of prohibited weapon whether a lethal weapon or not, any part of such a prohibited weapon or an accessory that is used to lessen the flash or noise produced when firing such a weapon. A part or component means anything that serves as an integral part and its removal stops the weapon from proper functioning.
